In the Bible, there are several verses that warn against using words to harm others. One such verse is Ephesians 4:29, where it says, “Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your mouths, but only what is helpful for building others up according to their needs, that it may benefit those who listen.” This verse emphasizes the importance of using our words to encourage and uplift others rather than to bring them down.

Proverbs 18:21 also speaks to the power of our words, stating, “The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.” This verse highlights the impact that our words can have on others, either bringing life and blessing or death and harm.

Additionally, James 3:6 warns about the destructive nature of the tongue, comparing it to a small spark that can set a forest on fire. The passage goes on to describe how the tongue, though small, can cause great harm if not controlled and used wisely.

Overall, the Bible teaches us to be mindful of the words we speak and to use them to build others up rather than tear them down. Our words have the power to either bring life or death, and it is important for us to use them in a way that reflects love, kindness, and grace towards others.
