This morning, I am meeting with someone from our Small Group department at my church. We are going to discuss a group that I would like to start. My vision is that this group will be for women who are in the season of pain, anxiety, or worry. We’re struggling with shame, disappointment, rejection, despair. The list goes on. Specifically I think about women who are experiencing marital difficulties. Women who feel like they can’t turn to the church because when they look around, they see perfection everywhere. They think something is wrong with them because of the state of their marriage. They are hurt and angry and isolated. I have been this woman. Recently God allowed me to encounter two women in this situation at my church. I got to have a very honest conversation with one of them and I remember what it felt like to be in her shoes. I want this group to minister to women who are hurting and think they have nowhere to turn. I am excited about this opportunity and prayerful that God will use this group to draw these women close to him and to begin their healing, even if their situation isn’t going the way they want it to. But most of all I pray that he uses this group the way he wants to and he brings the women he wants into this group. I pray that he is glorified, and that these women and the people connected to them will be drawn closer into his presence in their lives will be changed like mine was.
